The Knack

"Zoom" is the fifth studio album by the American rock band The Knack, released in 1998. It represented a renewed effort by the band to regain their earlier success, following a previous comeback attempt with the album "Serious Fun" in 1991 that had not achieved commercial traction. One notable change for "Zoom" was the replacement of longtime drummer Bruce Gary with Terry Bozzio. This lineup shift brought a different dynamic to the band's sound. Upon its release, "Zoom" received positive reviews from critics, with some considering it the Knack's strongest effort since their debut album. The album's sound continued in the power pop style that the band was known for, featuring catchy melodies and energetic performances. Several years after its initial release, "Zoom" was reissued as "Re-Zoom," including three additional bonus tracks. This reissue aimed to attract both longtime fans and new listeners alike, showcasing additional material from the recording sessions. While "Zoom" did not achieve the same commercial success as the Knack's early albums, it remains a noteworthy release in their discography, reflecting their enduring commitment to their signature sound and style.
