Mike Rutherford

"Acting Very Strange" is Mike Rutherford's second and final solo album, released on September 7, 1982. It stands out for its raw and unpolished sound, contrasting with the more polished production of his previous solo effort, Smallcreep's Day. The album includes Rutherford's only work as a lead vocalist, adding a unique dimension to his musical portfolio. Although none of the singles from Acting Very Strange reached the top 100 in the US or UK, the lead single, "Maxine," achieved notable success. It reached No. 37 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart and also made it to the top 40 in Canada, peaking at No. 39. Despite the lack of chart-topping singles, the album itself fared better commercially, reaching No. 23 on the UK Albums Chart.
