"Slow Buildings," released on August 29, 1994, is the third and final studio album by the British alternative rock band Pale Saints. This album marked a significant transition for the band, featuring Colleen Browne on bass and vocals following the departure of original member Ian Masters. Additionally, guitarist Meriel Barham, who had joined for the previous album In Ribbons, took over lead vocal duties.
The album reflects a shift in the band's sound and lineup. Notably, the single "Fine Friend" was adapted from the 1981 song "Poison in the Airwaves" by Scottish band Persian Rugs, with new lyrics added. Other tracks from the album, such as "Henry," "One Blue Hill," and "Angel (Will You Be My)," were released as radio singles but did not have the same level of commercial impact as some of their earlier work.
"Slow Buildings" captures the evolving sound of Pale Saints during this period, incorporating elements of their previous work while also exploring new directions. Despite the lineup changes and the challenges associated with them, the album is an important part of the band's discography and represents their final studio effort before disbanding.
