"In Ribbons" is the second studio album from the British indie rock band Pale Saints. It was released on 23 March 1992 through the label 4AD. The album, produced by Hugh Jones and the band itself, saw the band beginning to experiment with their earlier dream pop sound, featuring a layered, lush style with more complex, polished arrangements and a slightly darker mood overall.
The album contains 12 tracks and includes somewhat unusual instruments like sitar and timpani amongst others, resulting in an eclectic mix of sounds and moods. The song "Hair Shoes", a noteworthy track, was initially released as an instrumental track but with reworking, it gained lyrics and vocals.
Ian Masters (bass, vocals), Graeme Naysmith (guitar), and Chris Cooper (drums) are the main band members involved in this creation. It was the last album featuring Ian Masters as he left the band later in 1992. "In Ribbons" was positively received by most music critics and is considered as one of Pale Saints' best works. The album, while not a commercial hit, maintains a cult following among 90s shoegaze and dream pop enthusiasts.
