Dr. Dre

"Compton" is the third studio album by American rapper and producer Dr. Dre, released on August 7, 2015, via Apple Music and the iTunes Store, with physical editions following on August 21, 2015. It serves as the follow-up to his 1999 album 2001, and came after the cancellation of the anticipated album Detox. The album was conceived during the production of the N.W.A biographical film Straight Outta Compton, which inspired Dre to create a soundtrack-like album. Recording took place between 2013 and 2015 at various studios, with a production team including Dr. Dre, Focus..., Dem Jointz, Trevor Lawrence, Jr., DJ Dahi, Cardiak, and Theron Feemster. Compton features guest appearances from a range of artists including Anderson .Paak, Marsha Ambrosius, Craig Owens, King Mez, Justus, Kendrick Lamar, Candice Pillay, Jon Connor, Sly Pyper, The Game, Xzibit, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg. The album debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200, selling 295,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Compton was well-received by critics upon its release.
