Carole King

"Speeding Time" is an album by American singer-songwriter Carole King, released in 1983. It marked her 13th album in 14 years, but it received poor reviews and became her first album not to chart. After its release, King took a break from recording music, and it would be six years before she released another album. The production of Speeding Time was influenced by King's admiration for the song "She Blinded Me with Science" by Thomas Dolby, which inspired the album's sound. King co-wrote four of the album's tracks with her former husband, Gerry Goffin, with whom she had collaborated extensively throughout her career. Despite King's long-standing success as a singer-songwriter, Speeding Time was not well-received, and it did not resonate with audiences in the way her earlier albums had. The album represented a shift in her musical style, with more contemporary, synthesized production, though it failed to find commercial success.
