"Saints of Los Angeles" is the ninth and final studio album by the American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, released on June 24, 2008, through Mötley Records and Eleven Seven Music. This album holds significance as the only full-length studio album featuring the band's original lineup since 1997's "Generation Swine". It marked the return of drummer Tommy Lee and was the last studio album to feature guitarist Mick Mars before his departure from Mötley Crüe in 2022, as well as the band's initial dissolution in 2015.
Debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, "Saints of Los Angeles" sold approximately 100,000 copies in its first week. The album also achieved notable chart positions globally, including No. 14 in Australia, No. 5 in Sweden, No. 3 in Canada, No. 47 in Italy, and No. 9 in Finland, with further ascent in subsequent weeks in several markets.
The title track, "Saints of Los Angeles", became a standout single from the album, peaking at No. 5 on the US Mainstream Rock chart, marking one of Mötley Crüe's highest-charting singles in that category. However, subsequent singles like "Mutherfucker of the Year" and "White Trash Circus" achieved comparatively lower positions on the mainstream rock charts.
Despite varying chart performances of its singles, "Saints of Los Angeles" received positive reviews for its energetic performances, solid songwriting, and return to the band's classic glam metal roots. The album's success solidified Mötley Crüe's enduring influence in the rock music scene, showcasing their ability to resonate with both longtime fans and new listeners.
Following the album's release, Mötley Crüe focused on touring and releasing singles rather than pursuing additional full-length studio albums. "Saints of Los Angeles" remains a significant chapter in the band's legacy, encapsulating their iconic sound and marking the culmination of their original lineup's studio collaborations.
