A varied collection of tracks, the album was enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike, with many citing it as one of Weezer's best works since their earlier efforts. The creation of the White Album saw Weezer return to their roots with a Beach-Boys-inspired ambience. Frontman Rivers Cuomo stated in an interview that during the production of the album, he spent time studying his pop music forebears including the Beatles while also enjoying the sun and surf of California to draw inspiration for the album's creation. All tracks on the album are composed by Rivers Cuomo except "Endless Bummer" which was co-written with drummer Patrick Wilson. Furthermore, the album was produced by the famous producer, Jake Sinclair. The album had terrific commercial success, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard 200, while gaining heavy rotation on rock radio stations. It was appreciated for its buoyant pop-rock vibrancy and incisive lyrics. The album was ultimately nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2017, further affirming its critical and commercial success. In terms of sound, the White Album is a collection of sun-soaked tracks that mesh Cuomo's engaging songwriting with expansive and vibrant arrangements. These tracks employ everything from choral harmonies to grungy guitars. Standout tracks include "Thank God for Girls", "Do You Wanna Get High?" and "King of the World". As a whole, the White Album keeps Weezer's tradition of great music alive, balancing their signature alternative rock sound with a sense of maturity and evolution in their lyricism and sound.
