Sparks

"Pulling Rabbits Out of a Hat" marks the thirteenth studio album by American pop and rock band Sparks, released in June 1984 under Atlantic Records. Despite following the commercial success of their previous studio album, "In Outer Space" (1983), this release was not as well-received. The album continues the light synth-pop sound established in "In Outer Space," but with slightly darker lyrical themes revolving around Ron Mael's favorite subject matter: relationships. Despite the band's efforts to evolve their sound, "Pulling Rabbits Out of a Hat" failed to capitalize on the momentum of their previous success. While the album may not have achieved the commercial success of its predecessor, it remains an intriguing exploration of Sparks' unique musical style and Ron Mael's lyrical sensibilities.
