"Motel California" is the third studio album by the American rock band Ugly Kid Joe, released on October 22, 1996. This album marked the band's last full-length studio effort until their reunion in 2015, following a disbandment in January 1997 after which they remained inactive for over a decade.
The title is a playful nod to the Eagles' classic Hotel California, reflecting the band's irreverent style. One of the standout tracks, "Rage Against the Answering Machine," cleverly references the well-known band Rage Against the Machine.
Produced by the Butcher Bros. in Philadelphia, Motel California received lukewarm reviews from critics and did not perform well commercially. Despite its shortcomings, the album captures the band's signature sound and humor, making it a noteworthy entry in their discography.
