"Between Two Fires" is the third solo album by English singer Paul Young, released in October 1986. The album peaked at No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 77 on the US Billboard 200, and it has been certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry for sales of 300,000 copies.
The album continues the trend of combining cover versions with original songs, featuring eight tracks co-written by Young and keyboard player Ian Kewley, along with two covers. This release has fewer covers than Young's previous albums.
Three singles were released from the album: "Wonderland," "Some People," and "Why Does a Man Have to Be Strong." However, none of these singles reached the UK Top 20, in contrast to Young's earlier hits. "Wonderland," written by Betsy Cook, reached No. 24 in the UK. "Some People" peaked at No. 56 in the UK and No. 65 in the US, while "Why Does a Man Have to Be Strong" reached No. 63 in the UK.
