Sun Kil Moon

"Admiral Fell Promises" is the fourth studio album by Sun Kil Moon, released on July 13, 2010, under the solo performance of Mark Kozelek on acoustic nylon-string guitar. Despite being attributed to Sun Kil Moon, the album features Kozelek alone, delivering a deeply personal and thematic collection of songs. Released on Caldo Verde Records, it was also made available on vinyl in October 2010, accompanied by liner notes, lyrics, and two bonus tracks recorded live in Saint-Malo, France. Mark Kozelek expressed a clear vision for "Admiral Fell Promises," aiming to create a cohesive and introspective work that flowed musically. He has since cited it as the album he is most proud of, describing it as his best and most focused effort. Inspired by the classical guitarist Andrés Segovia, Kozelek's guitar playing on the album is particularly noted for its beauty and depth. Interestingly, a live version of the title track had previously appeared on Kozelek's 2001 solo release, "White Christmas Live," indicating a long-standing connection and evolution of his musical themes and compositions over the years.
