Joan Jett

"Up Your Alley" marks the sixth studio album by American rock band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, released in 1988 by Blackheart Records, CBS Records (in the United States), and Polydor Records (in Europe and Japan). Arriving a year and a half after their previous album "Good Music" (1986), this album was a significant moment in the band's career. The album's standout single, "I Hate Myself for Loving You," propelled Joan Jett and the Blackhearts to new heights, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also gained recognition as the theme song for Sunday Night Football NFL games in America during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The follow-up single, "Little Liar," further solidified Jett's chart success, reaching No. 19 on the Hot 100. "Up Your Alley" itself peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has since been certified Platinum, attesting to its enduring popularity and impact. Notably, former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor contributed the guitar solo on "I Hate Myself for Loving You," adding to the album's prestige. The singles from "Up Your Alley" were accompanied by music videos, including two for "Little Liar": the first featuring a concept with two versions of Joan Jett and the second, a live video capturing a more authentic feel with raw live shots combined with studio shots. The album's success earned Joan Jett and the Blackhearts a Grammy Award nomination in 1988 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "I Hate Myself for Loving You," further solidifying its significance in rock music history.
