Megadeth

"United Abominations" is the eleventh studio album by American heavy metal band Megadeth. Released on May 15, 2007, it is the first Megadeth album to feature guitarist Chris Broderick. The main theme of the album is politics, with the band tackling issues like the United Nations (UN), the Iraq War, and society as a whole. Megadeth's frontman and founder, Dave Mustaine, has been vocal about his views on the world's political system, and these opinions provided a strong foundation for this album. The title "United Abominations" is a critique of the UN, expressing Mustaine's disappointment in the institution's integrity and effectiveness. The album was produced by Andy Sneap and Dave Mustaine, and was widely praised upon its release. Critics appreciated the brutal, thrash-influenced riffs and solos, which they felt remained true to Megadeth's signature sound. The album also features a new version of the song "A Tout Le Monde" (originally from the 1994 album "Youthanasia") named "A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)", featuring Cristina Scabbia of the band Lacuna Coil. Overall, "United Abominations" marked a return to the band's more aggressive style, after several albums exploring different sonic terrain. The album was a commercial success too, peaking at number 8 on the Billboard 200, Megadeth's highest chart position since "Youthanasia".
