The Beatles

"Introducing... The Beatles" is the first Beatles album released in the United States. Originally scheduled for a July 1963 release, the LP came out on 10 January 1964, on Vee-Jay Records, ten days before Capitol's "Meet the Beatles!". The album includes several iconic songs such as "Love Me Do" and "Twist and Shout". It features eight original Lennon-McCartney compositions and six covers, mainly of Motown and R&B hits. The songs on the album were all recorded in 1962 and 1963. The album's release was delayed for several reasons, including internal issues within the record company and licensing issues surrounding some of the tracks. Though the album saw modest initial sales, it rose rapidly in popularity following The Beatles' breakthrough in the American market, and ultimately went on to sell over 1.3 million copies. "Introducing... The Beatles" has been reissued several times and has been the subject of many legal disputes. Nevertheless, it remains a significant early milestone in The Beatles' U.S. discography and is notable for offering the American public their first long-playing introduction to the group.
