The Walker Brothers

"Take It Easy with the Walker Brothers" is the debut album by the American pop group The Walker Brothers, released in November 1965. Also known simply as Take It Easy, the album was directed by Ivor Raymonde and produced by John Franz and Nick Venet. It achieved significant success, reaching number three on the UK Albums Chart. The album features the group's first major hit single, "Make It Easy on Yourself," which helped propel their popularity. The album was released in both Mono and Stereo LP formats and received generally positive to mixed reviews. In the United States, the album was released under the title Introducing the Walker Brothers in December 1965 by Smash Records. This version had a different track listing, swapping several tracks from the original UK release for singles like "Love Her," "My Ship Is Coming In," and "Pretty Girls Everywhere," along with its B-side "Doin' the Jerk." The group is also seen performing "Doin' the Jerk" in the 1965 beach party movie Beach Ball. The album was later remastered and expanded in 1998, and in 2008, Water Records released the original Take It Easy track listing in the US for the first time. The sleeve notes for the album were written by Brian Mulligan, Philips Records' press officer at the time, and the album's cover featured photography by Terence Donovan.
