Taylor Swift

"Lover" is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Released on August 23, 2019, the album was published by Republic Records. Marking Swift's departure from the country-tinged sound of her previous albums, "Lover" is primarily a pop, synth-pop, and electropop album that contains influences of country, pop punk, and R&B. Swift characterized the album as a "love letter to love, in all of its maddening, passionate, exciting, enchanting, horrific, tragic, wonderful glory". The songs cover a broad scope of love's enactment, from the romantic and playful aspects to sincerity and devotion. "Lover" presents a brighter and more playful tone than Swift's previous album "Reputation" (2017), enriching its characterization of love by exploring both the rosy and darker complexities of the emotion. Swift is credited as the executive producer of the album and worked on it with several noted producers, including Jack Antonoff, Louis Bell, Frank Dukes, and Joel Little. The album received generally positive reviews from critics and was commercially successful, debuting at number one in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom among other countries. "Lover" also spawned singles like "Me!" featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, and "You Need to Calm Down", both of which reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100.
