Taylor Swift

"Evermore" is the ninth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It was unexpectedly released on December 11, 2020, a short five months following Swift's previous album, "Folklore", which was released in July 2020. The albums are described as "sister records". "Evermore" is a primarily Indie Folk, Alternative Rock, and Electro-Folk album, continuing the departure from mainstream Pop that Swift started with "Folklore". It was produced alongside Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote the majority of the album with Swift, and with additional contribution from Jack Antonoff and William Bowery. Like "Folklore", the album is characterized by its stripped-down production and lyrical introspection. Swift described "Evermore" as an extension of "Folklore", stating that she couldn't stop writing songs. "To put it plainly, we just couldn't stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in." The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making "Evermore" Swift's eighth consecutive album to do so. Critical reception to "Evermore" was extraordinarily positive, with reviewers praising the album's mature songwriting and experimentation. Standout tracks often noted by the critics include "Willow", "No Body, No Crime", and "Marjorie".
