Bill Evans

"Interplay," originally released in 1963 by jazz legend Bill Evans, showcases his remarkable talent and innovative style. Recorded in July 1962 in New York City for Riverside Records, the album features Evans alongside an exceptional lineup including Freddie Hubbard and Percy Heath. In 1982, Milestone Records released "The Interplay Sessions," a compilation that not only includes the entirety of the original album but also additional tracks recorded in August 1962 with a different lineup featuring Zoot Sims and Ron Carter. This compilation peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Jazz Albums charts in 1983. The CD reissue of "Interplay" includes a bonus track, an alternate take of "I'll Never Smile Again." Notably, Orrin Keepnews received the Grammy Award for Best Album Notes in 1984 for his exceptional work on the reissue, further cementing the album's legacy in jazz history.
