Peter Frampton

"The Art of Control" is English rock musician Peter Frampton's seventh solo studio album, released in 1982. After enjoying international chart-breaking success with albums such as "Frampton Comes Alive!" and "I'm in You", Frampton started to face some commercial downturn. This prompted him to make a distinct shift in his music for "The Art of Control", pushing towards a harder rock direction rather than the more melodic rock and pop structure that he was known for. Critics have cited the influence of Frampton's new record label, A&M Records, and his new manager, Dee Anthony, as catalysts for this change in direction. However, despite its punchy tracks and aggressive lyrics, the album did not fare well commercially. It peaked at a disappointing 169 on the Billboard 200, not achieving the same amount of success as his previous albums. The album features eight tracks, including "I Read the News", "Sleepwalk", "Back to Eden", and the title track "The Art of Control". Frampton took a hiatus from the music industry shortly after the release of this album, not releasing another album until 1986's "Premonition". Despite its lack of commercial success, "The Art of Control" remains an important part of Frampton's discography, marking a significant transition in his career as a musician.
