"Wind of Change" is an album by the English rock musician Peter Frampton. It was released in 1972, and it was his first solo studio album following four album releases with The Herd and one with the band Humble Pie. It is often-upheld by fans as a transitional album where the familiar sounds of his previous efforts found themselves infused with much more rock-oriented accents and stylistic breadth.
This album features guest appearances from Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, and Klaus Voormann. Peter Frampton himself takes on multiple roles during the album's creation by being the performer, composer, and producer, handling guitar, vocals, keyboard, and percussion duties. The album features the singles "It's a Plain Shame" and "Jumping Jack Flash".
However, despite its distinctive sound, the album did not manage to achieve commercial success upon its initial release. Regardless, the historical value of the album remains critical as it laid the groundwork for Frampton's later mega-success with "Frampton Comes Alive!", largely considered one of the greatest live rock albums of all time.
After "Wind of Change", Peter Frampton released several more successful albums and established himself as a significant player in the rock music industry, his influence and contributions recognized globally. This album now stands as a crucial turning point in his storied career.
