"Wildcard" (also known as Terence Trent D'Arby's WildCard!) is the fifth studio album by Terence Trent D'Arby, marking his return after a six-year hiatus from the music industry. Released in Europe on October 11, 2001, through his independent label Treehouse Publishing and distributed by RockUp Records, the album featured both his previous and new stage name on the cover.
The album spawned two singles, "O'Divina" and "What Shall I Do?", which showcased D'Arby's signature blend of soul, rock, and funk. Critics received the album positively, with Entertainment Weekly giving it a B+ rating.
In February 2003, the album was reissued in the UK as Terence Trent D'Arby's WildCard! - The Jokers' Edition. This version was released under Maitreya's Sananda Records in collaboration with Universal. Notably, this edition credited the album's production, writing, and arrangement solely to Maitreya, which was the first time he used this name in the credits.
The Jokers' Edition featured a restructured tracklist, omitting several songs from the original and replacing them with newly recorded tracks, including a new single, "What Shall I Do?". Upon its UK release, the album received acclaim, with The Guardian awarding it a 4-star review and highlighting it as an "artful blend of soul, rock, and funk," praising it as a "snazzy comeback."
