"Throw the Warped Wheel Out" is the debut studio album by the Scottish new wave band Fiction Factory. Released in 1984, the album is best known for the hit single "(Feels Like) Heaven," which became popular in various countries and remains the band's most recognized song.
Fiction Factory was formed in Perth, Scotland, in 1983 by Kevin Patterson and Eddie Jordan, who were former members of the band The Rude Boys. They were joined by Chic Medley, Graham McGregor, and Mike Ogletree to complete the lineup for Fiction Factory's debut album.
The album "Throw the Warped Wheel Out" combines elements of new wave and synth-pop, characteristic of the early 1980s music scene. Despite the success of its lead single, the album as a whole did not achieve significant commercial success, and subsequent releases by the band did not replicate the success of "(Feels Like) Heaven."
The tracklist incorporates lush synthesizer arrangements and catchy melodies typical of the era. While the album reflects the style and musical trends of the early 80s, it ultimately remains a cult favorite rather than a mainstream success story. After releasing a second album, "Another Story," the band eventually disbanded in 1987. Despite their brief career, Fiction Factory is often remembered for their contribution to the new wave genre through this album.
