"Junction Seven" marks the seventh solo venture of English musician and songwriter Steve Winwood, hitting the shelves in June 1997. While the album found success by breaking into the Top 40 in the UK, it struggled to gain traction in the US, leading Winwood to take a hiatus from solo projects for six years before returning with "About Time" in 2003. Co-produced with Narada Michael Walden, Winwood's wife Eugenia contributed as a co-writer on several tracks, adding personal touches to the album's creation. Notably, Des'ree lent her vocals to the track "Plenty Lovin'". The album's title, "Junction Seven", holds significance as it refers to the nearest motorway junction to Winwood's childhood home in Great Barr, Birmingham, adding a nostalgic undertone to the album's essence.
