Steve Winwood

"Refugees of the Heart" is the sixth solo studio album by Steve Winwood, released in 1990. The album features the hit single "One and Only Man," which topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and reached #18 on Billboard's Hot 100. This album marked the return of Winwood's former Traffic bandmate Jim Capaldi to his songwriting team. Following this collaboration, a Traffic reunion occurred in 1994, and Winwood wouldn't release another solo album until late 1997. Other singles from the album include "I Will Be Here" and "Another Deal Goes Down." Winwood reflected on the closing track, “In The Light Of Day,” stating that when he and Capaldi wrote the song, it represented their interpretation of Nelson Mandela's dream while he was imprisoned. They based the song on their fantasy of what that dream entailed.
