Steve Winwood

"Steve Winwood" is the debut solo studio album by British blue-eyed soul artist Steve Winwood, released in 1977, three years after the breakup of his former band, Traffic. The album experienced moderate success in the United States, peaking at number 22 on the Billboard 200 chart, but it was considered a commercial disappointment compared to Traffic's recent albums. In the UK, however, the album performed better, reaching number 12 on The Official Charts, surpassing the moderate success of Traffic's recent releases. Island Records released two singles from the album, "Hold On" and "Time Is Running Out," but neither of them charted. Despite the mixed commercial reception, the album marked a significant step in Winwood's solo career, showcasing his distinctive blend of rock and soul influences.
