America

"Hideaway" is the sixth studio album by the American folk rock trio America, released by Warner Bros. Records in April 1976. Produced by the legendary George Martin, known for his work with The Beatles, this album is the fourth collaboration in a series of seven consecutive albums he produced for America. The recording took place at Caribou Ranch in Colorado in February 1976, and the album's cover and inner sleeve photos capture the wintry setting. Seeking a change in atmosphere, the group recorded their subsequent album, "Harbor," in Hawaii. "Hideaway" found success in the United States, peaking at number 11 on the Billboard album chart and earning Gold certification from the RIAA. The album spawned two hit singles: "Today's the Day," which reached number 23 on the Billboard singles chart and claimed the top spot on the adult contemporary chart for two weeks, and "Amber Cascades," which peaked at number 75 on the Billboard singles chart and reached number 17 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Additionally, several other tracks, including "Jet Boy Blue," "Watership Down," "Don't Let It Get You Down," and "Lovely Night," received airplay on FM stations featuring album tracks. The album showcases America's melodic and harmonious folk rock sound, enhanced by the production expertise of George Martin.
