Stray Cats

"Rant n' Rave with the Stray Cats" is the third studio album by American rockabilly revivalist band Stray Cats, released in 1983 by EMI America. Produced by Dave Edmunds, the album features the hit single (She's) Sexy + 17, which reached No. 5, along with the Top 40 hit I Won't Stand in Your Way (#35) and Look At That Cadillac" (#68). In a contemporary review for The Village Voice, music critic Robert Christgau gave *Rant n' Rave with the Stray Cats a B−. He noted that the album's bigger and rawer sound was an improvement over the prettification" of Built for Speed. However, he criticized Brian Setzer's songwriting, describing him as a preening panderer who mythologized his rockabilly roots with ignorant cynicism. In a retrospective review for AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine remarked that the album sounded very similar to Built for Speed but was equally strong due to the success of its hits, (She's) Sexy + 17 and I Won't Stand in Your Way.
