Cream

"Fresh Cream" is the debut studio album by the British rock band Cream. The album was released on December 9, 1966, in the United Kingdom and in January 1967 in the United States. The members of the band, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker, were already established players on the British music scene when they formed Cream. Considered one of the first true "supergroups," they mixed elements of traditional rock with blues and a touch of psychedelic music. The album Fresh Cream was emblematic of this fusion; it was a mixture of new songs written by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown alongside traditional blues numbers rearranged by the group. Some of the key tracks of this album include "I Feel Free", "N.S.U.", "Dreaming" and their blistering treatment of the traditional blues song "Spoonful." The album received positive reviews from critics and was successful in the charts, reaching #6 in the UK charts and #39 on the American Billboard 200. Over the years, it has continued to be recognized for its influence on the genres of rock, blues, and psychedelic music. On the technical side, Fresh Cream also showcased the trio's interplay and improvisational skills, exemplifying the group's instrumental prowess. Overall, Fresh Cream set the stage for Cream's future successes and introduced the world to a new, vibrant sound in rock music.
