Skids

"Burning Cities" is an album by the Scottish punk rock and new wave band Skids. Released in January 2018, it marked their fifth studio album. After three decades, the band decided to make a comeback with Burning Cities, making it their first studio album since "Joy" in 1981. The album was produced by Youth, who has notably worked with artists like The Verve, Crowded House and Paul McCartney. The band's lineup on the album includes the original members Richard Jobson and Bill Simpson, along with Mike Baillie and latest members Big Country's Bruce Watson and his son Jamie Watson. "Burning Cities" is aimed at reflecting the contrast between the band's early days in Scotland in the 1970s and the modern world. It's a combination of promotional works and new recordings, thereby linking the band's past to present. Notably, the album also includes a re-recorded version of their hit single "Into The Valley". The overall reception of Burning Cities was positive, with critics and fans alike praising it for its energy and for remaining true to the Skids' original punk sound while also offering something new. The album reached number 28 on the UK Albums Chart, signifying the successful return of the band.
