Low

"Ones and Sixes" is the eleventh studio album by the band Low, released on September 11, 2015. The album was co-produced by Low and engineer BJ Burton at Justin Vernon's April Base Studios in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In advance of the album's release, Sub Pop released a promotional video for the track "No Comprende" on June 23, 2015. The album features contributions from Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and includes artwork by artist Peter Liversidge. The lyrics of the album were nominated for an AML Award. "Ones and Sixes" marked a notable shift in Low's sound, as it was produced by BJ Burton in collaboration with the band, unlike their previous album "The Invisible Way," which was produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. This change in production brought a new dynamic to their music, leading critics to describe the album as having its sound "pushed, pulled and wrangled out of shape to devastating effect." The album successfully balanced the band's characteristic slow-moving melancholy with more experimental and harsher noise elements. Burton's production approach, which continued on their subsequent albums "Double Negative" and "Hey What," was instrumental in this transformation of Low's sound.
