Low

"The Curtain Hits the Cast" is the third studio album by American indie rock band Low, released in 1996 on Vernon Yard Recordings. Known for their slow tempos and minimalist arrangements, Low continued to develop their signature sound on this album. The record is often praised for its haunting atmosphere and introspective lyrics, solidifying Low's place in the slowcore genre. The album includes some of the band's most acclaimed tracks, such as the epic 14-minute closer "Do You Know How to Waltz?" "The Curtain Hits the Cast" was released on Vernon Yard Recordings in 1996. The album cover features a photograph highlighting most of Mimi Parker's minimalist drum kit, reflecting the band's understated style. Around the same time, the track "Lust" was released on a clear green vinyl as part of a four-way split 7-inch titled Indie Rock Flea Market. After the album's release, Low's major-label-funded period ended, leading them to sign with Kranky. Two tracks from the LP, "Prisoner" and "Tomorrow One," were later included in the 2004 rarities box set A Lifetime of Temporary Relief: 10 Years of B-Sides and Rarities.
