"As Time Goes By" is an album by the American duo The Carpenters. Released in 2003, eighteen years after the death of drummer and vocalist Karen Carpenter, the album features a collection of previously unreleased material. This includes songs from television specials and their early years, covers, and other rarities.
The album was compiled by Richard Carpenter, the other half of the duo, and includes some of their classic hits like "Superstar" and "For All We Know," as well as the unreleased title track "As Time Goes By."
The duets, "The Rainbow Connection" with Ella Fitzgerald and "Without a Song" with Perry Como are also part of the album. A medley "Karen's Theme" features Richard Carpenter's solo piano tribute to Karen.
This album serves as the last having original unreleased material from the Carpenters. Its creation offers another glimpse into their dynamic range of musical talent and further cements their legacy in the annals of pop. The timelessness of The Carpenters' music is evident in "As Time Goes By," an album that both honors their past and continues their musical tradition.
