Hazel O'Connor

"Cover Plus" is the third album by English singer Hazel O'Connor, released in August 1981 by Albion Records. The album reached number 32 on the UK Albums Chart. It was reissued on CD with bonus tracks on November 17, 2017, by Cherry Red Records. The reissue provided fans with additional content and an opportunity to revisit O'Connor's work from that period. Following the success of the Breaking Glass film and soundtrack, Hazel O'Connor released her first 'proper' studio album, Sons and Lovers, produced by Nigel Gray. Despite featuring the Top-Ten hit "D-Days," the album did not chart, which was surprising given O'Connor's desire to transition from her acting success in the film to a more established music career. The album maintained a similar format to the Breaking Glass soundtrack, but in some instances, it appeared that O'Connor was trying too hard, leading to a perception of being "a bit melodramatic and actor-ish vocally." Consequently, O'Connor approached the production of her next album, Cover Plus, with some caution.
