The Fall

"New Facts Emerge" is indeed the 31st and final studio album by the English band The Fall, released on July 28, 2017, via Cherry Red Records. This album marked a significant change for the band as it was their first since 2001's "Are You Are Missing Winner" to not feature keyboardist Elena Poulou, who had left the band the previous year following her separation from frontman Mark E. Smith. This reduced the band to a quartet for the first time in many years. Tragically, Mark E. Smith passed away in January 2018, making "New Facts Emerge" the probable final studio album by The Fall. Since then, no new recordings or archival releases have been issued as of late 2021, solidifying the album's status as their swan song. The album's release was somewhat overshadowed by controversy due to the title of one of its tracks, "Victoria Train Station Massacre," which coincidentally came out shortly after the Ariana Grande concert bombing in Manchester. The band clarified that the title was a mere coincidence, as the artwork and title were finalized and sent for manufacturing long before the tragic events occurred. "New Facts Emerge" serves as a testament to The Fall's influential and often unconventional musical journey, cementing their place in the annals of alternative and post-punk music history.
