"Further/Deeper" is the 24th album by the Australian alternative rock band The Church, released in October 2014. This marked the band's first album in five years, during which founding guitarist Marty Willson-Piper moved to Sweden. He was replaced by former Powderfinger guitarist Ian Haug, who joined after attempting to contact Willson-Piper for six months. Frontman Steve Kilbey noted that Haug's enthusiasm revitalized the band and helped to inspire a burst of creativity during the recording sessions.
In just five days, Haug co-wrote more than 20 songs, significantly contributing to the album's direction. Kilbey described Further/Deeper as a "very energetic, up-tempo record" that pushes the boundaries of The Church's sound while maintaining their core identity. The album features a blend of complex musical arrangements and innovative lyrics.
Following its release, The Church performed numerous Australian gigs featuring the full album, and they later toured the US in 2015, co-headlining with the Psychedelic Furs. The album was released with 12 tracks in the US and 15 tracks overseas, showcasing the band's evolving sound and new creative energy.
