"The Seventeenth Century" (originally titled "Let the Snakes Crinkle Their Heads to Death") is the fifth album by the English alternative rock band Felt, released in 1986. This album marked Felt's first release with Creation Records.
Distinctive for its brevity, the album is composed entirely of short instrumental tracks spanning various styles, with a total runtime of less than nineteen minutes. The original cover featured a photo of the band, which was later cropped for reissues.
In 2018, the album was reissued with a return to its original intended title, "The Seventeenth Century." This reissue also included a redesigned cover, replacing the previous photographs with typography. The album's unique composition and concise format make it a notable entry in Felt's discography.
