"The Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories" is the third album by the English alternative rock band Felt, released in 1984 and produced by John Leckie. This album represents a shift from the introspective, guitar-led style of their earlier works, featuring more prominent vocals from Lawrence and a stronger focus on pop melodies. For the first time, a traditional drum kit was incorporated into the band's sound, replacing their previous reliance on tom drums.
Tracks 2, 4, and 7 are instrumental. "Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow" differs from the version released as a single. Additionally, "Whirlpool Vision of Shame" is a re-recording of the earlier single "My Face is on Fire," featuring new lyrics.
