Rory Gallagher

"Stage Struck" is the eleventh album and the third live album by Irish singer/guitarist Rory Gallagher, released in 1980. It captures Gallagher during his energetic world tour in support of his 1979 studio album "Top Priority". This live recording not only showcases tracks from "Top Priority" but also features songs from Gallagher's extensive back catalog. The album represents a departure from Gallagher's earlier blues-oriented live recordings, leaning towards a faster-paced, hard rock sound. It captures the raw energy and virtuosity of Gallagher's live performances, highlighting his dynamic guitar playing and soulful vocals. Originally released with eight tracks, "Stage Struck" was later reissued in 1999 with two additional bonus tracks, "Bad Penny" and "Keychain". These additions were overseen by Gallagher's younger brother and manager, Dónal Gallagher, following Rory Gallagher's passing in 1995. "Stage Struck" stands as a testament to Rory Gallagher's prowess as a live performer and his ability to captivate audiences with his electrifying stage presence and versatile musical style. It remains a cherished document of one of rock's most underrated guitarists, capturing a pivotal moment in his career when he was at the height of his powers on stage.
