"Is Nothing Sacred?" is the second studio album by the British-American rock band The Lords of the New Church, released in September 1983 by I.R.S. Records. This album marked a shift in the band's sound compared to the gothic post-punk style of their self-titled debut. While retaining some of their dark, moody elements, Is Nothing Sacred? introduced a broader range of musical influences, incorporating elements of new wave, classic rock, and ska. The band also experimented with a more prominent use of synthesizers, horns, and bass, expanding their sonic palette.
The album produced two singles, "Live for Today" and "Dance with Me," which both charted in the UK, reaching #91 and #85, respectively. These tracks reflected the band's evolving style, blending their signature dark themes with more accessible, danceable rhythms and catchy melodies. The diversification of sound in Is Nothing Sacred? helped solidify The Lords of the New Church’s reputation as a versatile and innovative band in the early '80s rock scene.
