"Wilde Winter Songbook" is the thirteenth studio album and first Christmas album by English singer Kim Wilde, released on November 11, 2013, by Wildeflower Records. The album features a mix of traditional Christmas classics, contemporary seasonal covers, and original songs.
The album includes four Christmas classics: "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Let It Snow," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," and "Winter Wonderland." It also features two covers of winter-related songs from 2008—"Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, and "White Winter Hymnal" by Fleet Foxes. Additionally, Wilde Winter Songbook contains six new compositions, some of which are collaborations with her family and friends. Notably, the album includes duets with Nik Kershaw, Rick Astley, her husband Hal Fowler, and her father, Marty Wilde.
Kim Wilde's daughter, Rose Fowler, contributes backing vocals to the song "Hope." Wilde had originally planned to include the song "Deck The Halls (Angels Sing)" but decided against having 13 tracks on a Christmas album. This song was later released on the deluxe edition of the album in 2015, along with additional bonus tracks that were made available on iTunes as a separate Deluxe EP.
To promote the album, Kim Wilde released two videos for the songs "White Winter Hymnal" and "New Life," both filmed in a recording studio with her brother and other musicians. She also made a guest appearance on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 on November 8, 2013, where she performed "White Winter Hymnal" among other songs. Further promotion followed with videos for the original song "Hope" and a festive video for "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," which humorously referenced her viral moment from December 2012, when she was filmed singing "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Kids in America" while wearing reindeer antlers after a drunken Christmas party. The video re-enacts this scene, which had previously gained over two million views on YouTube.
By the end of December, a video was released for every track on the album. Kim Wilde also made several television appearances, including a performance of "Let It Snow" on This Morning and a duet of "Winter Wonderland" with Rick Astley on German television.
