"Kinda Kinks" is the second studio album by the English rock band, The Kinks. The album was released in 1965, just months after their debut album, asserting the band’s prominence in the 1960s music scene. While demonstrating versatility in the musical styles, it still retained remnants of the British R&B influences that drove their early success.
The album includes notable songs such as "Tired of Waiting for You" which became a significant hit and peaked at the number one spot in the UK and number six in the US. However, this album was recorded by the band during a high-pressure period since they had to balance recording with touring. This may not have allowed the band to fully realize their creative intent for the album.
It was recorded at Pye Studios in London and produced by Shel Talmy. The lead vocalist and key songwriter for the band was Ray Davies, with Dave Davies on lead guitar, Pete Quaife on bass guitar and Mick Avory on drums. Though not as commercially successful as their other works, "Kinda Kinks" is still considered a key stepping stone in The Kinks' career, showcasing their ability to diversify their sound and hinting at the future direction their music would take.
