The Beautiful South

"Choke" is the second studio album by the English pop-rock group the Beautiful South, released in the UK on October 29, 1990. Upon its release, it reached number 2 on the charts, bolstered by the success of the band's only number one single, "A Little Time." The album enjoyed a notable run, remaining in the charts for 22 weeks. Following the album, two more singles were released, but neither achieved significant success. "My Book" became the band's first single to chart outside the top 40, peaking at number 43, while "Let Love Speak Up Itself" reached number 51. The original release of Choke featured 11 tracks, with a twelfth track exclusive to the German version. This track was intended for inclusion from the beginning but was removed late in production. The cassette version of the album also included a long silence at the end of the first side, suggesting that this space was originally meant for the omitted track.
