This Record Store Day features a special release from The Wolfgang Press titled Unremembered, Remembered, a six-track mini-album comprising previously unheard demos. Recorded between 1995 and 1996, this collection showcases the band’s evolution into a duo with Andrew Gray and Michael Allen during a tumultuous period in East London.
The tracks reflect the socio-political climate of the time, drawing inspiration from significant events like the Brixton riots, the Dunblane Massacre, and the IRA docklands bombing. Despite their relevance, the band decided to disband shortly after recording, leaving these demos forgotten until recently.
Discovered and meticulously mastered at Abbey Road Studios, Unremembered, Remembered will be made available for the first time on April 18th as part of Record Store Day. This limited edition release will be pressed on 140g transparent red vinyl and features striking sleeve artwork by long-time 4AD collaborator Chris Bigg, utilizing metallic inks for an eye-catching finish.
This release will be exclusive to independent record stores on Record Store Day, which falls on June 20th this year. It promises to be a unique addition for fans and collectors alike, offering a glimpse into the band’s creative process during a pivotal moment in their history.
