The Big Pink

Future This is the second studio album by the English band The Big Pink. It was released on 6 January 2012 in Australia, and on 16 January 2012 in Europe and on 17 January 2012 in the United States by 4AD. The album was named after a slogan from conceptual artist Jenny Holzer. The Big Pink worked with producer Paul Epworth on the album, noted for working primarily with Adele and Florence and the Machine. During the making of the album, The Big Pink utilized the vocal talents of Skin (Deborah Anne Dyer) from Skunk Anansie on tracks such as "1313" and "Future This". The album includes the single "Stay Gold," which premiered in October 2011, garnering both critical and fan acclaim. Despite the upbeat indie rock melodies that invade much of the album, Future This also sees the Big Pink experimenting with electronica in tracks such as "Jump Music" and "Rubbernecking". The album received mixed reception by critics overall, with some lauding The Big Pink's technical skill and composition, while others criticized a lack of originality and emotional depth. Regardless, it was a key step in The Big Pink's musical evolution.
