"Pin Ups" is the seventh studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on October 19, 1973, through RCA Records. Created as a "stop-gap" album to satisfy his record label, it consists of covers of songs from influential British bands of the 1960s, including the Pretty Things, the Who, and Pink Floyd. Recorded at the Château d'Hérouville in France, the album features contributions from members of Bowie's band, the Spiders from Mars, although tensions arose during its production, particularly following Bowie's surprise announcement of the band's breakup.
The album includes tracks like "Sorrow," which was released as a lead single, achieving commercial success by reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart. Despite topping the UK Albums Chart, "Pin Ups" received mixed reviews, with critics often considering the covers inferior to the originals. However, retrospective evaluations have praised it as a notable homage to Bowie's musical influences. The album cover features supermodel Twiggy and reflects the swinging London aesthetic. It has been reissued multiple times, including a remastered version in 2015.
