Savages

Adore Life is the second studio album by the English post-punk band Savages. Released in January 2016, it followed the band's critically acclaimed debut album, Silence Yourself. The album was recorded in RAK Studios in London, produced by Johnny Hostile and mixed by Trentemøller. Adore Life represents a more mature and introspective perspective from the band, responding to the intensity of life's joys and failures with a newfound sense of vulnerability. The album's subject matter explores the challenges and complexities of love, relationships, and personal growth. Musically, the album maintains Savages' signature punk influence but also showcases a broader range of styles, embracing elements of noise rock, post-punk, and even balladry. Lyrics on the album are direct, emotional, and confrontational; their songs hint at love, self-examination, and a battle cry for passion and energy. The critical reception was generally positive, with many complementing its intensity and the band’s ability to evolve without losing their distinctive aggressive sound. Adore Life was featured in numerous year-end lists and also led to a nomination for the Mercury Prize. It illustrated the band's consistent intensity and passion, proving that Savages' were not one-album wonders, but a force to reckon with in the world of post-punk music.
