Thompson Twins

"A Product of... (also known as A Product of... Participation)" is the debut studio album by the English pop group the Thompson Twins, released in June 1981. At this time, the band was a six-member group, not including future member Alannah Currie, although she contributed to the record. The album was self-produced and featured a post-punk sound with heavy influences from African rhythms and chants. The Thompson Twins were known for their energetic live shows, often involving audience participation with makeshift percussion instruments. The album was released on T Records, a label created by the band and distributed through Fame/EMI. All songs were written by the band, except for two traditional tracks arranged by Tom Bailey. The album's scruffy image reflected the band's poverty and lifestyle in London squats. In 2008, "A Product of..." was re-released as a double CD along with the band's second album, "Set," including their earliest singles, non-album tracks, and extended remixes.
