Jesus Jones

"Liquidizer" is the debut album by British rock band Jesus Jones, released in October 1989 through Food Records. Blending techno and power pop with hip hop influences, it featured extensive sampling and garnered favorable reviews, peaking at #32 on the UK Albums Chart. Key singles included "Info Freako," "Never Enough," and "Bring It on Down," each charting in the UK. The album's production involved various sessions, initially with producer David Motion, followed by Craig Leon, who helped define its signature sound. The band's lineup evolved over time, with frontman Mike Edwards drawing inspiration from diverse musical styles, particularly after acquiring a sampler in 1988. Their energetic live performances and innovative use of samples set them apart from contemporaries. Liquidizer's release coincided with the burgeoning Madchester scene, but the band was labeled as part of the "grebo" movement, which Edwards disputed. In later years, the album was reissued and celebrated, with live performances and compilations continuing to highlight its impact on alternative music.
