"Clockwork Angels," the nineteenth and final studio album by the Canadian rock band Rush, was released on June 8, 2012, via Roadrunner Records. During a break following the Snakes & Arrows Tour, the band decided to create a new studio album. Most of the album's recording took place between October and December 2011 at Revolution Recording in Toronto, Ontario.
Prior to the album's completion, two songs, "Caravan" and "BU2B," were recorded in April 2010 and released to radio stations and as digital downloads on June 1, 2010. These tracks were included in the Time Machine Tour's set list. Following the tour, "Clockwork Angels" was finalized. The album's subsequent singles, "Headlong Flight" and "The Wreckers," were released in April and July 2012, respectively. "The Anarchist" followed as the fourth and final single on February 20, 2013.
Upon its release, "Clockwork Angels" debuted at No. 1 in Canada and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was awarded Rock Album of the Year at the 2013 Juno Awards.
